Week 3 Summer Holidays

Monday designated a pj day by Jess.
I began the week with good intentions but life took over and to be honest not a lot happened.
Tuesday Jess's friend Jess came round few a few hours10-4ish,oh and we had a window cleaner for first time in ever, now booked in on a regular basis so I don't kill myself hanging out of bedroom windows, only thing is that I now have to clean the inside, lol.
Wednesday I began a couple of journal pages, "Stand out from the Crowd" was the finished one which has been posted already the other is a work in progress.
Here is what I have so far.

Thursday I made a card, for my nephew who is one very soon.
I'm afraid I can't show this one yet just in case sister in law is having a peek.
Friday I started and finished another journal page, this time a flat dylusion type page with a touch of doodling. Saturday morning I realised why I don't do this type of page anymore because my right hand feel swollen and hot, pulsating with pain.

 The page started life about a month ago as a pencil drawing which I sealed with soft Matt medium.
Something similar to this one, sorry forgot to take before and during.

A single colour of semi opaque paint was applied all over the page using a distress ink applicator, by just pressing the applicator down I made a random pattern, building up the colour with layers.
Using a black Pitts pen and a white marker I re-drew the face using the pale lines as a guide followed by a a touch more doodling.
Here it is, I think it needs a little something more but to be honest my hands are throbbing at the thought.

 Saturday came and went with a massive migraine headache.
Sunday I caught up on a few house duties, followed by diner at mums.

 

I did manage to pick up a pen again  for a  few dots and touch writing here and there on one of my finished journal covers. The large white arrows were Dylusion stamps used with white paint. I did have to go over a few places because of the spine shape and bent pages. All good fun tho.

Three weeks down, four to go.

Stand Out From a Crowd Journal Page

 For this page I thought I would try a different approach, think of a prompt then make a page from there, normally I just sit down and see where the flow takes me.

I was having a little sort out and came across this cute little Stampotique Character,  I don't remember ever using him. I've had him for a number of years and decided he should come out and play, it seemed appropriate to make him stand out a little.

I stamped lots of the same image of text and the little fella onto good quality paper followed by one on watercolour paper and cut them out.

 I had a lined piece of paper hanging around so I trimmed it down and stuck it into my journal to use as a base. The black and white  stampotique images were arranged and stuck down.
White gesso was added on the lined paper which blended away some of the lines this was faded up to the images but not over.
The watercolour image was then coloured with distress ink then added to the page.
Shading was added by the feet of the images to ground them.
The edges were formed by stamping Dylusion borders onto watercolour card, cut out, stuck down, attached to the page and coloured in coordinating colours.
I used a limited colour scheme on purpose as otherwise my little man wouldn't have stuck out.

Clean and simple, journal page done while the girls were distracted by a film!

Week 2 Summer Holidays

Week two started with Jess going  to the stables and Georgie eventually getting up at ten ish.
 

Tuesday  I had a vision of the girls and myself doing a trio of canvas's (one each that is).  Jess was up for it but the "teenager" didn't want to play.
 Jess and I got out the paints and went for it.
First we created the base by scrapping paint across the canvas, followed by a touch of stencilling.
We also added a little heat embossing with a gorgeous green WOW embossing powder.
Then we stamped up TH Crazys Birds and coloured them with distress ink,cutting them out and layering them up.
Branches were made using a JOFY stamp inked, stamped onto patterned paper cut out and added to the canvas.

Wednesday morning  Jess woke up with another plan, asking for a Large canvas or two.
I didn't like to let her down so I searched high and low to locate one and failed miserably.
However, after hearing what she wanted to do we came up with an alternative solution, lots of smaller ones layered up.
She drew up a plan and got stuck in, it took all day.
This is what she did.

And, this is what her sister decided to paint after she was woken up by the Hoover, LOL

Thursday, where do I begin?
 Lazy day again for Georgie, Jess wanted to play rummikub the moment she woke up and Steve working from home for half a day.

Friday! Ooooo postman delivery.
 I  entered a six week challenge site Summer of Colour and managed to get myself randomly picked to receive the final weeks give away.
Here is what arrived, all the way from California, never had a parcel from California before.

I  needed to make something but knew it would have to be a small project, so, as August is a busy month for birthdays and anniversaries I thought I would get a head start.

Here is the quick card I made using paper tape to create a simple background (from parcel), a dylusion flower stamp was stamped onto the tape and onto watercolour card. A few of the flowers were cut out then watercoloured, shaped with a ball tool and added to project.
 Orange perfect pearls (from parcel) were added randomly and a small bow. Happy birthday was stamped onto card to finish it off.

On Saturday I made a couple more cards using Stampotique Stamps.

Sunday was dinner at nanny's then a trip to the cinema to see Mission Impossible 5.

Two weeks down five  to go!

Week 1 - School Holidays

Well, who would have thought, week 1 of the school holidays is over.

Only 6 more to go!

Summary so far.

Monday was my youngest daughters birthday, no crafting done!

Tuesday my youngest wanted to go spend birthday money (not all of it), no crafting.

Wednesday my sister-in-laws birthday, made a quick quilled card and another one for their anniversary on Friday.

Thursday hubby worked from home no crafting.

Friday rain no crafting not sure why not.
Saturday was not much better, Jess went to stables to get her weekly horse fix, Georgie didn't do much (that's teenagers for you). Steve went on the weekly shop followed by car cleaning and game playing on X Box and I made a card.

Here it is.

I began by stamping these cute stampotique dogs  (my holiday treat to myself) onto watercolour card and coloured them with my trusty distress inks (as watercolours).
Next  a length of watercolour card was cut to size and dipped into distress ink which had been pressed onto a glass mat water spray was added then dried.
Black lines were drawn around the edges of the pieces and the the card was stuck into place, a JOFY happy birthday sentiment was added to finish off the card.
Sunday more rain!
The wet cats were sent upstairs to wake the "teenager" up. LOL
We all popped to decathlon for a Horse Whip for Jess and dance leggings for Georgie followed by dinner at Grandmas.
Back home "I made another card".
This was a request by hubby as one of his team member was leaving, instead of shouting obscenities about leaving things till the last minute I went with the flow and came up with this card.

Unfortunately the picture quality is poor due to making it during the evening and rushing to get it done in time, you get the idea though.

Again I used a Stampotique stamp this time Cats, cute and apt as one appeared to be waving.
Images were stamped onto watercolour card and coloured in distress ink.
The back ground was dipped into three distress colours which had been watered down and dried in between dips. A huge Carabella stamp was used to add a little more interest and it was all layered up and stuck down.
The words were made up from Indigo Blu alphabet stamps which were individually stamped/cut and inked around the edges.
 Some of the letters were stuck with 3d foam to lift them from the background and others left flat.
That's one week over six more to go!

Jessie J-11 today.

Today was my youngest daughters 11th birthday.

 This is the card I made for her.

 

 

We've had a busy day with visits to nanny's, grandma's, to the cinema to see Minion's

to Mcd's (not my Choice) and the day is still not over.

SOC 2015

It's a sad day!

 

Today marked the last day ever of SOC Challenge, we have all had a ball looking at each others art and designs, gaining more inspiration and ideas.

 On a good note I actually got drawn out of the hat randomly for the last prize give away.

It's the first time I have ever won anything like this.

Here is a picture of all the yummy goodies I will be receiving shortly, can't wait to get stuck in.

SOC Week 6

It is the last week of SOC and to put it bluntly I was stumped !

This weeks colours are orange+orange+blue.
 

 

I just could not get into these colours, hence the late entry combined with the fact hubby was working from home, again! in our dining/craft/office room. That should be craft room first I think as these days it's very rarely used as dining room.

Any how, I'm just delaying the inevitable, back to the task at hand.

 It's not  a dress form this week but still a fashion item.

Many moons ago I made a steam punk type hat and decided to revisit it.

I made a template, then cut it out again in orange basil card stock to create a texture base, I then stamped and heat embossed a leaf pattern onto the shape.
 

The hat was glued together and left to dry, meanwhile I die cut some cogs and sorted out a piece of blue ribbon (or two) along with pre made white flowers. The ribbon and trim was added just above the rim of the hat and the flowers layered up and attached with a glue gun.
Orange spray ink was added to the white flowers.  Indigo blue treasure gold added to the cogs which were then stuck on  to the hat. A little distress ink in dark blue was added to the edges to create a distressed look.

SOC Week 5 - Green + Green + Pink

Hello all!

 

Hope everyone had a super weekend.

 

I cannot believe it is week 5 of SOC 2015,  the past few weeks have  gone by so quickly.

 I must just say thank you to everyone who has visited my blog and made a comments, it really does mean a lot to me to read peoples lovely comments.  I spend many hours visiting everyone  who participates and I leave a comment on everyone I can get access to. (Think hubby thinks I have another man as it's often when the girls have gone to bed when I get a few minutes to comment. LOL)

 

 A couple  more weeks and the girls are off school for 7 weeks.

During which  I don't think I'll have much me time, I'll have to try and squeeze as much crafting as possible in the days ahead, wish me luck.

 

Saying that I have a pretty busy week and so  I have revisited a previous project, the one that started all the dress  canvas's off. Here is the original post http://artycreationinspiration.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/fancy-frock-canvas.html.

This  was the original design, as you can see colour wise it was lacking a little something and so this morning when the challenge came through I instantly knew I wanted to add a touch of pink.

The original had papers in the background mainly black and white but it did have a pale pink hue too.

Colour bloom sprays in 2 greens dark and light were used to colour.

Perfect!

 

 

 

This is how the revamp turned out.

 

Pink blossom was substituted for the white ones and pink micro beads added to the black glass glitter to enhance the shading even more. I am quite happy now the pink is on, as it seems to have finished the project off.

Just thought I would share a picture of potted roses sent to me for my wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago. The colours being Green leaves and the flowers were actually pink on the inner petals and another shade of Green on the outer petals.

 

 

This is another face too, I call this one "Just Breathe" for my eldest daughter who has just taken some mock exams.

One day I will get round to adding colour but for now I'm still practicing sketching.

Friday Fun 3rd July'15

Friday is fast becoming the day to create in my journal.

Here goes. 

I began by prepping the page with a coat of gesso closely followed by texture paste.

This was then sealed with clear gesso to let me add colour on top but also be able knock it back to the original colour underneath as the paste was graphite black.

Lindy's Spray Gang and Prima blooms were used to add colour.

Again when I sprayed the prima bloom onto the  Lindy's, the colours reacted and dispersed similar to water dropped into oil.

Anyhow I liked this appearance and wanted to keep as much as possible so I opted to keep the pages nice and simple.

I used my favourite wall stamp and an edge effect stamp to add a little detail.

A title of discover was mounted onto black card and distressed, a bit of rusty metal and a touch of lime green cord was added to complete the piece.

Very simple this week no micro beads either.

SOC Week 4

 

This weeks SOC Colours are red + red + metalic.

 

Yum!

 

 

I wanted to do something that was a little different to previous weeks.

 I have done canvas's for the past 3 weeks so  I thought I'd have a go at a less textured flatter piece.

Mainly just to test if I can still paint.

 

I began with a sketch, yes, it's a dress, rear view this time.

 

 

 

 I layered some red papers onto the design (two shades).

 

 

To give a tooth I gave it a coat of gesso, thinning it out in areas to reveal the paper underneath.

 



 

I found a couple of matching red aquatone pencils, and  paints.

(Ok, a touch of clear texture paste happened to find it's way on the photo too. I just had to use it.)

 

 

I was a little distracted again, to be honest it doesn't take much and before I knew it the project was finished. Painted, splattered and a tad of texture paste.
