Twelve Cards of Christmas 2016 - Day 1 and 2
Well here we are again another year, another 12 last minute Christmas card makes.
This is my challenge to myself to make sure I get the last few cards posted in time for Christmas, it is another last minute rush as always.
Day 1 and 2 together as yesterday (1st December) was a crafting day with my crafting buddy Rebecca who booked day off work to celebrate her birthday and spend some quality time chilling and making a piece of mixed media artwork (will post it later).
Moving on....
A little while ago I used half of an old book to use as a canvas type project and thought hey, why not make it into a 3D type of card.
I had gutted out several book halves and glued the edges to provide a solid base to work on, followed by a coat of clear gesso to seal the paper and provide a even tooth.
Some time later.
Texture paste was added through a mask and infusion powders sprinkled over while the mask was still in place, using a spatula to spread the colour. Once the paste was dry white gesso was dry brushed to knock back the colour a little.
Distress ink was smooched over the page then misted with water, kitchen roll was used to lift off the excess water and leave a lovely mottled pattern, this was sealed with distress wax.
Die cut leaves were coloured by double dipping in green distress inks then shaped with a ball tool, a die cut sentiment added along with various shop bought flowers, cones, berries and acorns.
A card blank was created and the book pages attached to the front a bit like a card topper, the back edge of the base card was cut slightly angled to let the card tilt a little more as it was a little heavier.
Here are the first cards for the mums and dads.
Hope you like them.
