Where have the past five weeks gone?
Its all a bit of a blur.
This weeks SOC colours were a challenge for me yet again,
Red and Royal Blue with a Splash, Smudge or Pop of Light Blue.
Hence why so late with my post this week, I struggled, is all I can say.
Many weeks ago my brother cut out a couple of door hangers from MDF for me to alter, so for a change from canvas's I decided to alter one a little.
To be honest with you I had other plans for this one, it started off claret with a coat of crackle glaze and a top coat of chalk paperartsy paints, that was a month or so ago.
Today it had a few drips of PVA glue dripped down it followed by a coat of blue, it was more of an electric blue than a royal blue but you have to make use what you have.
This didn't work out to well so I pulled it off taking a few of the other layers with it.

I quite liked the effect and decided to run with it, I stamped a couple of corner stamps on the main area and embossed with a light blue embossing powder.
Next I stamped an image onto white card and cut it out and coloured it using water soluble pencils.
A tiny canvas was made, IN was put on one side and OUT on the other, this was attached with a tiny bulldog clip. Red velvet ribbon, blue sheer fabric and white crinkle ribbon were added to embellish the door hanger.
I am really pleased with the out come, to see more projects from the SOC 4 challenge pop on over to http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.co.uk .
I'm slowly working my way through all the great entries hopefully I'll make it before the final set of colours come out.
awesome door hanger and I love the way you used the colors! Thanks for visiting my post. I love my swimming pool and enjoy just floating around doing nothing. It gets so hot here you have to have a way to cool off! Vickie
ReplyDeleteWow you did great. I like this.
ReplyDeleteI am new here and yes I did manage to get something up with color limited.
I was really impressed with this. I liked how you took us through the steps of creating it, and I loved the outcome of your door hanger. I'd say your brother gave you some lovely canvases to work with when he cut the door hangers for you. And you did this "canvas" proud!
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful! Creative door hang! Thanks for sharing the process :)

It all turned out so good in the end, I like the addition of the velvet ribbon and the girl (wearing the SOC colours). I found this combination so difficult too and I don't think we were alone.
ReplyDeleteI just love your beautiful door hanging! I think you used this week's colors with such creativity! Your work of art is simply gorgeous, and I love that you showed us how you did it, too! Thank YOU!!!!!
